What is SnarkBack™?

SnarkBack™ is a quick one-off tool that generates witty, snarky, or absurd replies to any text you paste in. Think of it as a comeback generator — no creative workspace, just instant roasts. There are many other fun features you will enjoy other than just the sarcastic replies. Read more below.

What's the difference between Paste Message and Describe Situation?

Paste Message is for when you have the exact text someone sent you — drop it in and SnarkBack™ writes a reply to it. Describe Situation is for when you'd rather explain what's going on in your own words; then you pick a reply framing: Continue (SnarkBack™ writes the reply for you) or Coach me (SnarkBack™ walks you through strategy first, then drafts the reply).

What does "Coach me" actually do?

This is a very cool feature of SnarkBack™. Coach me is a two-step mini coaching session. First, SnarkBack™ shows you a short strategy — what to aim for, what to avoid, and the emotional read of the situation. When you approve, it drafts the actual reply based on that strategy. Both steps count against your daily cap the same way any generation does.

What's the difference between a graphic card reply and a text reply?

A graphic card is a shareable image with the persona's artwork, styling, and a SnarkBack™ wordmark — great for screenshots and social. A text reply is plain copy-paste. A few options are text-only by design: Professional & Polite, Romantic Flirt, Faithful Friend, and — under Describe Situation — the Sarcasm tones and Flip-the-Script.

Are replies branded with the SnarkBack™ name?

Graphic cards always carry the SnarkBack™ wordmark or snarkback.com on every plan. Text replies are branded only on the Free tier; Plus, Pro, and Super deliver text replies with no branding attached.

What tones and personas are available?

All tones and personas are available on every subscription plan — including the free tier. Pick any tone (Mild, Witty, Full Snark, Unhinged) or any persona without needing to upgrade. Paid plans raise your daily reply cap, input length, and history retention — not the creative options.

How does the daily reply cap work — and what counts as a use?

Each tier gives you a set number of replies per day; the cap resets at 12:00 AM (midnight) Pacific Time. Everything counts as one use: the first reply, Refresh, Shorter, Longer, Less intense, More intense, and the second half of a Coach me session all consume one from your daily total. Keep an eye on the remaining counter in the app so you don't burn through your quota experimenting.

Why did my reply come out tame — can I make it meaner?

SnarkBack™ has safety limits built in: no slurs, harassment, threats, sexual content involving minors, or targeted attacks on real private individuals. The Unhinged tone is stylistic — bigger, weirder, more absurd — not a way around those limits. If a reply feels soft, try More intense, switch personas, or bump the tone from Mild toward Full Snark or Unhinged.

What is the input length limit?

Free users can paste up to 500 characters. Plus allows 2,000, Pro allows 5,000, and Super allows up to 10,000 characters — perfect for long emails or rants.

Does my reply history get saved, and what do Favorite, Archive, and Delete do?

History retention depends on your user tier: Free users have no saved history, Plus keeps 30 days, Pro keeps 90 days, and Super keeps unlimited history. On the History page you can Favorite a reply to pin it for quick access, Archive it to hide it from the main list while keeping it available under the Archived filter, or Delete it — deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Replies left in your deleted folder are automatically deleted after ninety days. Note that "deleted" items CAN be archived one they are placed in the deleted folder, thereby by-passing the auto-delete feature.

Do you store the message I paste in?

We save what you'd need to find a reply again — the generated reply, the tone or persona used, the reply framing, and a timestamp — for as long as your tier's retention window allows. Pasted messages and Describe Situation notes are used to generate your reply and are not kept as searchable history beyond that. Free users have no history saved at all.

Can I use SnarkBack™ replies publicly or commercially?

Yes — replies you generate are yours to use, post, or share. That's also why some personas keep things deliberately generic: they avoid real song lyrics, direct trademarked-character references, and named celebrity impersonations, so what you post stays clean of third-party IP (intellectual property) issues.

Can I change or cancel my plan?

Yes, anytime from your Account page. Upgrades take effect immediately and we charge a prorated amount for the rest of your current billing period. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of your current period — you keep your existing tier until then, then automatically switch over with no refund needed. When you downgrade, history entries older than the new tier's retention window will no longer be visible.

Is there a free trial?

The Free tier is itself a trial — you get 10 replies per day at no cost. If you need more, upgrading is instant and does not require a separate trial. Paid plans begin at just $2.99 per month.

How do I add SnarkBack™ to my device as an app icon?

You can install SnarkBack™ as a Progressive Web App (PWA) on desktop browsers, or add it to your Home Screen on iPhone, iPad, and Android. Follow the steps for your device.

iPhone / iPad (Safari)

  1. 1Open SnarkBack™ in Safari.
  2. 2Tap the Share button in the toolbar — it looks like a square with an arrow pointing up.
  3. 3Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. 4Tap Add in the top-right corner. SnarkBack™ will appear on your Home Screen like any other app.

Android (Chrome)

  1. 1Open SnarkBack™ in Chrome.
  2. 2Tap the menu (three dots) in the top-right corner.
  3. 3Tap Add to Home screen and follow the prompt.
  4. 4SnarkBack™ will appear on your Home Screen and open like a standalone app.

Chrome / Edge (Windows or Mac)

  1. 1Look for the install icon in the address bar — it looks like a monitor with a down arrow: .
  2. 2Click it, then choose Install or Install SnarkBack™.
  3. 3Alternatively, open the browser menu , then select "Cast, save, and share" (Chrome) or "Apps" (Edge), and choose Install SnarkBack™.

Safari (Mac)

  1. 1Open SnarkBack™ in Safari.
  2. 2In the menu bar, choose File → Add to Dock .
  3. 3Click Add. SnarkBack™ will appear in your Dock as a standalone app-like window.

Firefox

Firefox does not support direct PWA install on desktop. You can still keep SnarkBack™ handy by bookmarking it or creating a shortcut manually.

  2. 2Save the bookmark to your Bookmarks Toolbar for one-click access.
Once installed, SnarkBack™ opens in its own window and behaves like a native app. On Chrome and Edge, you can also find the app in your Start menu or Applications folder.
